About Me

My name is Morgan, I am 24-years-old, and I'm from a small town in Connecticut called Stratford. I recently graduated from Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, CA, with a double-major in Psychology and Philosophy and a double-minor in Mandarin Chinese and Asian Pacific Studies. I currently work at a law firm in Los Angeles and am in the process of applying to law school. Aside from painting, some of my other hobbies include singing, baking, knitting, bracelet weaving, and cooking. 

I began painting when I was 3-years-old. I attended an art school called The Little Red School of Art and Music, taught by Carolyn West, until I was about 11 years old, when my Dad transformed a small room in my house into an art room for me. I still go back to the art school occasionally to help teach classes or to receive help on a piece that I am working on. Other times I visit just to say "hello" to the people who have taught me so much. 

Painting means so many things to me. It is very relaxing, and the feeling of writing my signature at the bottom of my work, signifying the piece's completion, is one of my favorite feelings ever. Sometimes I go through time periods where I don't paint much due to lack of time, and other times I will spend the entire day locked up in my little room, blasting music and creating something that I hope will make someone else happy. 

I did not realize the strength of my talent until the earthquake hit Haiti in 2010. I was in 8th grade at the time and some friends and I started a fundraiser at my school. I began painting little paintings of different scenes to sell at school during lunch in order to raise money. In two weeks, my work alone had raised $2500 with the paintings selling at $10 or $15 each depending on the size. Some paintings even sold for as much as $50 and $125 - (these paintings were priced higher due to the buyer's special requests of a specific scene or the size of the canvas). Ever since, I have been inspired and intrigued to sell my artwork so that my talent may be recognized by people around the globe, and also because I never realized the something I love to do has the potential to help people, even if it only makes a slight difference.
